26th August 2014 was marked as an important and auspicious day in the history of Japan-Pakistan cultural relations when, on behalf of Mr. Fumio Kishida, Foreign Minister of Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mrs. Roeeda Kabir, President of Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recognition of her significant contribution for promoting Japan-Pakistan cultural relations. The commendation award ceremony was held at the Embassy of Japan on Tuesday 26th August, 2014 which was attended by the select gathering. This year, Commendation will be awarded to 108 individuals and 30 groups of which, 20 individuals and 10 groups are from Japan, and 88 individuals and 20 groups are from overseas. The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendation also aims to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for their activities. Mrs. Roeeda Kabir has worked selflessly and with full dedication to promote Japan-Pakistan cultural relations, and the Government of Japan greatly values her services in this connection. As a token of appreciation, on behalf of the Foreign Minister of Japan, Ambassador Inomata conferred commendation to her.
Mrs. Roeeda Kabir was elected as the President of the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), KPK in 2003. Under her dynamic leadership, PJCA KPK has been acting as a bridge of friendship and goodwill between the people of Japan and those of Pakistan.
